I was delighted to come across Mr Dougie Poynter, bassist with McFly, in a recent interview. His rock credentials are there and pretty standard but it was what he opined to journalist Andrei Harmsworth that made me rather proud and quite the opposite than crestfallen. This young man whilst claiming to simply ‘chuck a bunch of stuff on’ has the intelligence and sartorial savvy to recall Sir Hardy Amies’ sentiment – ‘A man should look as if he bought his clothes with intelligence, put them on with care and then forgot all about them.’ Quite right. There still is hope!
