CAR BUFFS DREAM BOOK

whiteblondecar.jpgDrool over this classic car and the others below, to be found with many more fantastic models in a superbly produced book, 'Louis Vuitton - The Art of the Automobile'.

From early beginnings when Vuitton equipped luxury motors with their trunks and baggage, the company has cultivated a connection with top cars. This book is a testament to that history and to the cars in all their glory. Bugatti, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, Lagonda, Bentley, Ferrari - all the legendary marques are included as well as less well known models.

oddvuitton.jpgOne of these is pictured here, the Helica, conceived by Marcel Leyat, described as a "sort of wingless airplane" . Below is an early delivery van used by Louis Vuitton for their luggage. Top, the fabulous 1937 Delahaye 135 MS.

And below are two more super cars, the batman-like model developed by Bertone at Alfa Romeo, seen at the Turin auto show in 1954; and earlyvuitton.jpgthe Talbot Lago SS 'teardrop', first designed in 1937 by Figoni & Falaschi and reconstructed in 2003.

Giving some 250 pages, packed with full colour illustrations and information on designers, manufacturers, shows and prototypes, this is a book that will be appreciated by all car enthusiasts. Put together by Serge Bellu, author of many books on cars, it is published by Abrams, price £40. www.abramsbooks.co.uk

::BE A RACING DRIVER::

IF YOU have ever felt the urge to drive at over 180mph, here's your chance.

A new, exclusive car club has been launched which will allow members to drive the world's fastest cars around some of the world's top circuits.

Called the 'Primoris Club', it has the backing of the Barwell Motor Sport team and Oakfield, leading supplier of racing cars, and the services of GT driver Ben de Zille Butler. For a not inconsiderable membership fee, members get to drive GT cars around such circuits as Manza, Silverstone and Bahrain. Experienced racing drivers will provide some coaching.

'ULTIMATE' CAR SOUND

Bentley has chosen Naim Audio to supply its in-car sound system which will be featured in all future models.

Working on a brief to deliver "the world’s finest home hi-fi within a car" , Naim and Bentley spent 18 months researching, developing and creating the new system, to ensure it delivers true Naim's high-fidelity sound. The result, launched at the Geneva Motor Show, is claimed to be "the world’s ultimate in-car audio experience".
