FOR MEN WHO KNOW BEST

MEN OPT FOR SURGERY TO GET RID OF 'MOOBS'

The early summer heatwave fanned expectations of a long hot season and prompted a sudden upsurge in men wanting cosmetic surgery to trim their bodies.

The Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group, one greggbody.jpg of Britain’s largest with 22 clinics across the country,  reports a big increase in enquiries from men. "Typically men only account for 12% of all enquiries at Transform but over the last few weeks we've seen a huge increase, with them now accounting for 22%," Shami Thomas of Transform reported.

‘Moob jobs’ are among the most frequently requested, the numbers enquiring doubling, and men are also turning to liposuction to trim their figures.

“Men are just as vain as women when it comes to looking good and are also heavily influenced by the celebrity culture. They want to look their best in the summer months and are prepared to take drastic measures in a bid to obtain the perfect beach body." www.transforminglives.co.uk

Men are being inspired to get rid of the flab by pin-ups such as this one, seen wearing pants by Gregg Homme of Canada, price £21, available through www.deadgoodundies.com

NO MORE THE HAIRY HE-MAN

The hirsute he-man look is no longer in favour. Men, as well as their girlfriends and wives, prefer a sleeker, toned skin without a hairy fuzz, and a new gadget here from the US promises to give easy, no-fuss hair removal anywhere on the body.

Called the no!no!, it works on thermal technology that targets the hair and “A thermal effect occurs within the follicle whereby hair growth communication nonochest.jpgbetween the bulge and root are disrupted.” This means it emits a gentle wave of heat that painlessly destroys the hair follicle while not effecting the surrounding skin.

It should be used 2-3 times a week initially, and then once or twice a week as needed. The makers claim a rapid 34per cent reduction in hair density and that it is safe and effective on all types of hair and skin – but not on the face.

It costs £140, on sale at Selfridges and online at www.my-no-no.com

Alternatively, there is waxing. Wimps who fear the pain of wax being stripped off may be persuaded to try Nads Wax Strips, claimed to be painless. By removing hair from the roots, they leave legs, underarms, chest and back smooth for weeks. Price £9.99. And for men who suffer from ingrown hairs or rashes, Nad’s for Men Ingrow Solution may be applied after shaving to minimise ingrown hair, razor burns, bumps and rashes. www.nads.com

ANTI-WRINKLE products proliferate as rapidly as wrinkles. The latest in dermal fillers - those that aim to plump up the skin to fill out wrinkles - is Evolence.

Made from collagen, it is injected, has been rigorously tested by the mighty Food & Drug Association in the US, and has been demonstrated to be safe and effective through respective clinical studies. Available at leading clinics.
