VINTAGE TREASURY NO 1
There are many sites for women's high quality vintage clothes but very few specifically for the top end of men's clothing, including Savile Row bespoke.
We launch this service with a particularly splendid overcoat.
GREAT COAT WORN BY THE LAST GREAT EDITOR OF THE TAILOR & CUTTER
This is a coat for a big man, both in size and authority. It's heavy, a thick Irish wool tweed, long and enveloping, with a deep beaver lamb shawl collar, and needs a big man to fill it and to carry it off with aplomb.
That was managed by John Taylor, Editor of the 'Tailor & Cutter' from the 1940s to the 70s. The man who also launched the cult magazine 'Man About Town', he was largely an urban dweller and seldom wore this warm style.
It shows little sign of wear or moth - the tweed probably too tough for the little blighters to penetrate.
It is a beautiful coat that is a real winter's style, but only for the man who doesn't mind standing out in the crowd.
