Have you noticed how pattern clash is all the rage?  Look at the recent collaboration between Liberty and Uniqlo – riots of mad blossom, surely impossible to imagine but riotously and wildly exciting and desirable.  In the menswear market more and more clash these days seems to equal dash.  This is reminiscent of our dearest departed Tommy Nutter who once had a shop on Savile Row and created sharp suiting for the most discerning.  Ringo Starr appears in a black and white check suit.  Nothing strange perhaps but look at the way the pockets, turned on the bias playfully fight with the whole. Genius. I often opt for a black and white Deco silk scarf tied raunchily around the neck of a strident black and white stripe shirt over which sits a dotted waistcoat. Yes…black and white too. Well…you have to have a little constancy. As Monet confessed his love for a variety of flowers, all the time, with a little bravado you might find that to clash your prints and patterns makes you a walking canvas.
