FOR MEN WHO KNOW BEST

YOUNG TALENT AT ROW'S SUMMER PARTY

Young Savile Row took the spotlight at the Row's Summer Party, held one warm summer's evening at the imposing old Merchant Taylor's Hall in the City.

To those who think of the bespoke tailoring world as essentially formal, mature and pretty stuffy, this throng of happy tailors revealed the true variety of the trade.

It was the occasion when Savile Row Bespoke awarded its first set of tailoring diplomas to trainees who had completed a three year training stint in the Row.

As these pictures show, the younger crowd may have a different take on how to wear bespoke tailoring to that of their older mentors - and also how untidy shirt collars can look without a tie...

:: ROW'S FUTURE ::

THE ROW at last seems to have come up with a way of ensuring new talents and old skills combine to safeguard its future.

Trainees who received diplomas at the Summer Party are the first batch to benefit from a scheme set up by Savile Row Bespoke.

pips.jpg Phillip Parker of Henry Poole and Sue Nicholson,above, put in much of the hard work to see the training programme come to fruition.

Those who received diplomas were: from Anderson & Sheppard - Daniel Kinsey,Paulo Nicodemi and Oliver Spencer; from Meyer & Mortimer - Chandni Odedra; from Henry Poole - Terry Francis, Craig Holloway,Rory Duffy and Jinny Seals; from Dege & Skinner - Sarah Massey,Roxanne Jones and Rebecca le Moignan, from Huntsman - Jordan Heard and Liv Guri Ostrem; and from Gieves & Hawks - Jo Baker and Ayres Gongalo.

They had completed a 36 month training programme. A further twenty trainees are in the system, and many more aspire to join them.
